Frothy Preparation

Primeval - pleased with myself
Title: Frothy Preparation
Author: Ariane DeVere
Word count: 221
Rating: PG
Characters: John, Sherlock
Warnings: Implied sexytimes ahead
Disclaimer: Sherlock belongs to way more powerful and wealthy people than me.

Part of Harry’s present had been two large bars of good quality chocolate, and after days of rich Christmas pudding and mince pies, John craved something light and easy to eat. Eggs, sugar and salt were in the cupboards and it took no more than half an hour to finish the preparation, then a patient wait for a couple of hours while it set in the fridge.

Despite his usual reluctance to eat anything, Sherlock had an amazing habit of appearing whenever John had food in his hands, and so John didn’t even jump when Sherlock breathed, “What’s that?” in his ear as he took the finished item from the fridge.

“A roast chicken dinner, obviously,” John told him straight-faced, then relented at Sherlock’s indignant look. “It’s chocolate mousse made without cream ... hey!” He snatched the dish away as Sherlock stuck his fingers into the dessert and scooped out a large dollop.

“I’ll get you a spoon,” John began but Sherlock put his fingers into his mouth and sucked on them with a blissful look on his face, then turned a predatory gaze onto John.

“Spoons are boring,” he told him as he stalked slowly towards him, herding John and his dessert gently backwards towards the bedroom. “And only unimaginative people would eat something like this from a bowl ...”

Author’s Note: This 221B is a belated Yuletide present for chocolamousse, whose Christmas wish was for me to get “a saner and more realistic view of the Sherlock/John relationship” after I had dared to imply John having a het relationship with Sarah in my last fic. Here you go, sweetie, just to prove that I can do slash too.

A zillion thanks to verityburns, who – on being requested for some additional inspiration – came up with two punchlines which I couldn’t choose between, so I used them both!

The title comes from part of one dictionary definition of ‘mousse’. Oh, and I found the particular recipe for cream-free chocolate mousse here (Other recipes are available).

I leave that to the established porn writers and my own happy imagination!

Ah, yes, these are very promising implications. It would do such a delicious fic if an author, I mean an author conversant with very promising implications and delicious fics, wrote a sequel. And Ariane who talks about the established porn writers... I wonder who she alludes to...
*flutters her eyelashes at Atlin and adopts an expression of complete innocence*

Completely love it! And that recipe looks interesting, too - a nice bonus, thank you :)

Oddly enough, the idea of Sherlock sticking his fingers in chocolate mousse affects me a lot. Especially if I involuntarily skip the last syllable of chocolate. Don't know why, really.

Ariane, listen, I never doubted your ability to write slash *looks at Author, Author inconspicuously*, but this... This is perfect, from the warnings (because yay for sexytimes, even implied ones) to the last word (for the same reason ; so, yay for Verity too).

I approve. For once it's not Sherlock who laughs at John.

This is a very lovely Yuletide present and I love it, thank you very much ! And it's a much saner and much more realistic view of the Sherlock/John relationship, obviously. Actually I have no regret for pestering you endlessly about Courting is over, since it led to this. I'm happy and proud I did it. Yep. And now excuse me, I feel a sudden urge to have a look at my fridge. :D

Oh, I love it. Sherlock, John, delicious food. Implications. Yep! Can't go wrong there.

Spoons are boring? Yes they are.

Ungh! Chocolate, Sherlock and John - fangasm.

Ooooh... Hehe, love the implied ending!

I'm planning to make some chocolate mousse with the leftover Baileys I still have at home. Hopefully it'll be edible, haha. But too bad I don't have a Sherlock to... uh, share it with. XD

Mmmmm. These boys and dessert: redundant but delicious. Sherlock would look fantastic in chocolate mousse; it would bring out the highlights in his hair. I vote for you being in charge of wardrobe for Season 3, Ari.

I shall nobly and bravely take on this task at your request. *nods* Make sure that Moffat and Gatiss know that I'm on my way ...

I was browsing through your journal, looking for that fic we talked about at your place and stumbled over this. How did I miss this? I hate Christmas, I missed so many nice things here. *pouts*

This is very sweet and contains all the things I love: Sherlock, John and chocolate. Perfect!

Also perfect is the cream-free recipe because I just had to chuck out all dairy products from my diet.
