“Sherlock’s Home: The Empty House” – vote for your favourite story
4th-Jul-2012 09:51 am
Sherlock - so excited I could pee
So I’m almost embarrassed to mention this, but I imagine that other authors may also be blogging about it: there’s a vote on the Save Undershaw website for people to indicate their favourite story in Sherlock’s Home, the book that was published to raise funds to help save Undershaw, Arthur Conan Doyle’s former home, from redevelopment. It contains stories submitted by many different writers and includes Distraction written by yours truly.

It’s no longer totally clear why they’re running this vote – initially they were saying that the winner/s would be narrated by “a well-known Sherlock Holmes actor” but I’m not sure whether that ‘prize’ is still available (but Ari piddles herself at the mere thought ...)

Aaaanyway, there’s a vote going on and, I dunno, but if you fancied clicking on one of the stories, you could. I mean, if you want to. Up to you which one you choose, you know. *shrugs* It’s a free choice. I’ve already voted, and hand on heart I didn’t vote for my own story!

ETA: Apparently the 'well-known Sherlock Holmes actor' is Nicholas Briggs, better known as the voice of the Daleks. Hmmm ... Do I really want to hear him reading, "SHER-LOCK HAS-N'T HAD A CASE FOR EIGHT-EEN DAYS AND IS JUST A-BOUT READ-Y TO EX-TER-MIN-ATE SOME-ONE ..."?

*shrugs* Hell, yeah!

Why, why, WHY did you not vote for your own story, you complete and utter muppet?

Honestly. *shakes head*

I mean, I know why. I know YOU. But still.

Muppet. Of the honourable variety.

Well, in light of the ETA that I've added above, I'm wondering whether I actually want to win!

Oh, who am I kidding?!

OMG, that hadn't even clicked with me.
That is it.
This has GOT to happen!

well, Nick Briggs is a famous Sherlock Holmes actor. I met him at the Great Sherlock Holmes debate, and he's rather lovely :-) He's not a famous 'Sherlock' actor, so I guess MX Pub worded it a bit so that we all thought it might be a Sherlock actor.

Hmmm. How can we fiddle this so that we come joint first?!

36 votes for you so far, sweetie, and one of them's mine. You're the frontrunner, and deservedly so. May the best woman (and yes, it's clearly a woman) win!

Thank you so much for blogging this on your own page! Much appreciated (though bloody scary. I may not have any fingernails left by the time voting ends).

Does anybody know for how long this vote will be open? I've tweeted about it (just in English - but can retweet the next days and tweet in Danish as well to tell my students what to do if they would like a higher grade next semester ;)

Good luck!

Well, according to ledasdaughter, aka the author of A 221B for Undershaw, it's open until 5000 votes are cast, or 31st July, whichever is sooner.
