JOHN: Mary, what are you ...? Hang on, we-we agreed we would never bring Rosie out on a case.
MARY: Yeah, exactly, so ... (she hands the baby to John) ... don’t wait up.
(She greets Sherlock who is standing nearby holding a large bloodhound on a lead.)
MARY: Hey, Sherlock.
JOHN: What ... Mary, what are you doing here?
SHERLOCK: She’s better at this than you.
JOHN: Better?
SHERLOCK: So I texted her.
JOHN: Hang on. Mary’s better than me?
SHERLOCK: Well, she is a retired super-agent with a terrifying skill-set. Of course she’s better.
JOHN: Okay.
SHERLOCK: Nothing personal.
JOHN: What, so I’m supposed to just go home now, am I?
MARY: Oh, what do you think, Sherlock? Shall we take him with us?
SHERLOCK: John or the dog?
JOHN: Ha-ha, that’s funny.
MARY (to Sherlock): John.
SHERLOCK: Well ...
MARY: He’s handy and loyal.
JOHN: That’s hilarious.
JOHN: Is it too early for a divorce?
SHERLOCK: Barnicot’s house, then. Anyone up for a trudge?

Thanks for this!

A grateful 'thank you' as always!

JOHN: Is it too early for a divorce?
NO IT'S NOT HERE ARE THE PAPERS JUST SIGN HERE. As someone said on Tumblr, if it's not John's nightmare, it's mine. :D Thank you!

Actually John doesn't need to sign divorce papers, because he's not married. Mary has a fake birth certificate, so the marriage isn't legal. So that'll make John and Sherlock's wedding easier to arrange, won't it? *nods*

Ariane, please be realistic. Sherlock and John will never get married now. John will not even return to 221B eventually. Mary will, because Sherlock needs her with him to solve cases. John will stay at home and take care of the baby but it's all right because Mary is better than him anyway. I knew the next season would be angsty but I didn't suspect it would be that angsty. :D

Good God, woman. Do you need a hug or something? Even I'm not dreading Season 4 THAT much.

At least, I wasn't until now.

Naaah, I'm fine. I just, er, I just don't adore Mary. *tries to be diplomatic* But I can't wait for the new series and I'm already flailing and squeeing inwardly. I'm ready to love it!

Always good to see a new transcript! Thanks for all you do, sweetie.

Thank you so very, very much! You're the BEST!

And I love this! I don't like Amanda Abbington very much, but so far I've really liked her as Mary. ANd I do really like Mary, though shooting Sherlock is something I find rather hard to forgive. But I think it's great they make her an equal character, not just an obligatory token woman character that gets forgotten immediately.

Thank you so much again!

And I just read your comments about Mary above :) It seems we do not see eye to eye on the subject of Mary and her place in the series :)))

I’ve guessed at ‘Barnacotts House.’ It might be ‘Barnacott’s house’ or some other spelling.

Very, very close.

It might be "Barnicot's house"?
A Dr. Barnicot being a character that appears in The Adventure of the Six Napoleons.
Then again, they might've messed with the spelling a bit (like they did with Magnussen/Milverton), and you could be absolutely correct :P

The bloodhound intrigues me.
One of those appeared in The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter.

- The Adventure of the Six Napoleons
- The Adventure of the Missing Three-Quarter
- The Adventure of the Dying Detective

Is that all three of them? Or were others mentioned/hinted at?

Thank you so much for the suggestion. That's the problem with me having not read much of the Doyle canon. I appreciate you letting me know, and have edited the last line accordingly. As you say, they might change the spelling themselves but for the time being it seems the most likely correct spelling.

Mofftiss cherry-pick bits from various bits of the canon, so there will probably be extracts from all sorts of different stories.
